KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Kirksville residents will soon learn the answer to the question of where A.T.Still University will be building its new dental school. Kirksville is in the running along with Orlando, Florida and San Diego, California.
The presentation to the ATSU board for the city of Kirksville will be made by ATSU President Jack Magruder. The presentation is scheduled for next Friday, February 11. During the ATSU board meeting in Mesa, Arizona.
The local fund raising effort spearheaded by the group "Community Friends for ATSU Dental," proved very successful, raising more than $875,000.
The group's co-chair, Ranee Brayton, said, "I am thrilled with the community response; overwhelmed actually and extremely optimistic about Kirksville’s chances to secure the dental school thanks to the support we have received. i never doubted our community's ability to pull together and demonstrate our willingness to succeed with this goal."
ATSU President Jack Magruder was unavailable for comment; he is currently traveling to Mesa for the upcoming board meeting. No date has been set for an announcement of the board's decision.
