A former Heartland police officer learns his sentence after pleading guilty to one count in federal court.
Ryan Slaughter, 34, of La Plata, Missouri, had entered a guilty plea to one count of lying to FBI agents during an investigation into his activities while on the LaPlata police force.
On Friday, he was sentenced to three years probation.
According to court records, in March 2008, Slaughter arrested a young woman for suspected drunk driving.
Later that morning, while still on duty, Slaughter allegedly drove the woman to the La Plata Police Department in his squad car and had sexual relations in the police department offices.
In his plea, Slaughter admitted he lied to FBI investigators.
As part of his probation, he is not allowed to possess any dangerous weapon including a firearm.
