MACON, MO. -- MoDOT wants to alert motorists that all roads in north central Missouri are snow covered. MoDOT crews were well prepared and have been out in full force around the clock plowing snow and treating hills, curves and intersections since the storm began. However, snow is still falling and heavy accumulations, frigid temperatures and blowing snow are challenging road crews.
Motorists are reminded to reduce speed and drive for road conditions. Blowing snow can also reduce visibility on the roadways.
Crews are focusing on the highest-traveled major roads first until they are mostly clear, and plowing and treating the remaining less-traveled roads for safe travel.
These current winter conditions will slow progress in clearing roads, and it may take a few days before all roads, particularly the lower volume less traveled roads, are clear.
Motorists should check road conditions using the travel advisory map and other available resources. This information can be obtained by logging in at www.modot.org/northcentral, and follow the links in the center of the page. Link's to MoDOT's travel advisory map for road condition information, educational videos such as how to shovel your driveway and other references are provided to assist motorists during winter weather conditions.
