Ottumwa drive-by shooters facing federal charges

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Two Ottumwa men arrested in September are now facing a federal indictment.

A federal grand jury indicted Phana John Parsypo, 26, and Andrew Burciaga, 24, both of Ottumwa with one count of a possession of a firearm by after having been convicted previously of a crime.

The two men were arrested in September of this year, after an Ottumwa woman was assaulted and a gun was fired in what Ottumwa Police described at the time as a drive-by shooting.

The men initally faced a variety of state charges, those have now been dropped in favor of the federal charges.

The men are now in federal custody, they will stand trial in the Federal Court for the Southern District of Iowa.
