MACON, MO. -- The commanding officer of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop B, Captain James E. Wilt, announced the traffic crash and enforcement totals for both the Christmas and New Year’s counting periods for the Troop B area Tuesday.
During the Christmas counting period, which began at 6 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 2010, and ended 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 26, 2010, Troop B officers investigated 76 traffic crashes, which resulted in 10 injuries.
During this period, snow and ice covered roadways made traveling difficult.
Troopers also made five arrests for driving while intoxicated.
“Even though the holiday season has concluded, I urge motorists to always take the job of driving seriously and always ensure everyone in your vehicle is wearing a safety belt,” Wilt said.
