KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A man is jailed on a felony abuse charge. Anthony Orwig, 32, of Kirksville, is charged with Abuse of a Child. 

Court papers allege Orwig struck the 11-year-old victim a total of 21 times with a wooden paddle, causing severe bruising on the buttocks and upper rear thigh. Orwig denied hitting the victim that many times, saying it was closer to six times. 

Orwig is being held in the Adair County Jail under $25,000 cash only bond.
