Bank robbers face charges

MOUNT PLEASANT, IOWA -- Two men already facing bank robbery charges in connection with robberies in Ottumwa and Mount Pleasant, have now been indicted by a federal grand jury.

26-year-old Morris Thompson III, and 21-year-old Ryan Zasareti are charged in connection with a robbery August 9th at the Community First Credit Union in Ottumwa.

They are also charged with bank robberies at the Wayland State Bank in Mount Pleasant on August 9th and again on September 16th.

The two got nearly 30-thousand dollars in cash in the robberies according to the federal indictment.

Officially the two men are charged with three counts each of bank robbery and one count each of conspiracy to rob banks.

Both Thompson and Zasareti have been transferred to federal custody and are set for trial on February 7th in federal court in Davenport, Iowa.
