KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A local man is facing a felony sex charge in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred earlier this month.
Carlos Lopez, 22, of Kirksville is charged with Forcible Rape. According to court documents, the victim says she was sleeping on a couch in Lopez' apartment, when she woke up during the night with Lopez allegedly on top of her.
Lopez told officers he did have sex with the victim, however, he said it was consensual.
Later officers learned Lopez was planning to leave the area to avoid arrest. He was arrested at his residence, where authorities found his passport and several hundred dollars cash in his possession.
Lopez is being held in the Adair County Jail under $100,000 cash only bond.
