KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Missouri Governor Jay Nixon was in Kirksville on Wednesday.

Gov. Nixon and Missouri Department of Economic Development Director, David Kerr were at A.T. Still University to unveil their five-year plan for creating jobs.

The project was started five months ago and it’s called the Missouri Strategic Initiative for Economic Growth.

Nixon says the purpose of this plan is to make sure there is a future for our kids and our grandkids.

“We have to stay focused one what the energy and jobs of the future are, and that’s why we need to make sure our kids and grandkids are winners and not losers in the new economy. This process will help us guarantee that. The way we are focusing our economic development incentives, our education will lead to good jobs and great careers for Missourians for years to come,’ said Nixon.

The completion of the report is just the first phase of Nixon’s plan. The next phase is to outline how to reach those objectives and this is scheduled to be finished by the end of March.
