OTTUMWA -- For Tuesday’s “Man on the Street” segment, KTVO posed this question: “Given the economic atmosphere should the Bush tax cuts be extended?”

Here’s what some people said.

“It’s a hard question because we’re in economic stress right now and everybody seems to be suffering the rich and the poor,” said Joyce Kramer.  “I feel the legislature has a big job to consider.”

“They should be stopped immediately,” said Orville Headley.

“I think we’re taxed just a little bit too much,” said Phyllis Boswell.

“I don’t think they should be extended for everybody,” said Rod Scott.  “We’re pretty much in a financial downturn.  The taxes that we could get by cutting them off at least to the upper class to the rich people would maybe help some of our budget problems.”
