Number of hungry Missourians increases

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (AP) -- A federal report indicates that more Missourians are going hungry. 

More than 366,000 households in Missouri are dealing with hunger.

The state has among the highest rates of food insecurity and has the third largest increase in people who do not have enough food.

Nationwide, more than 17 million households have difficulty getting enough food.

The Missouri Food Bank Association says the national economic downturn has caused significant challenges for many.

The group is urging for a tax credit program to be continued.
