BEVIER, MO. -- A northeast Missouri man was indicted by a federal grand jury on multiple charges that he defrauded some Iowa livestock producers.

The charges against Steven Fink, 39, of Bevier involve his cattle operation, Fink Farms, outside Bevier.

The indictment alleges that Fink defrauded several cattlemen from Iowa out of nearly $1 million.

The cattlemen had sent their livestock to Fink to gain weight.

Fink then allegedly continued billing the producers even though many of the cattle had died.

Fink is also accused of lying to the FBI agent handling the investigation.

If convicted, Fink could be sentenced to more than 20 years in federal prison.

The investigation was a joint effort by the FBI, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Macon County Sheriff's Office.
