OTTUMWA -- The Ottumwa regional hospital expands again.
On Tuesday the hospital held its groundbreaking ceremony for a new medical office building. The 13,000 square foot building will cost $3.3 million. The office can hold up to 12 physicians
David Kreye, President and CEO of Ottumwa regional health center, says the building will help the medical community.
“As we continue to recruit and grow the medical staff here in Ottumwa so we can serve our community better through growth and offering additional services,” Kreye said. “We're proud to be able to continue the growth of the hospital and continue on the great work that's been done."}
Several hospital workers and even Mayor Dale Uehling took part in the groundbreaking.
Ted Hass says this will help attract some of the best doctors to the area.
“It’s a lot easier to recruit a doctor if you can show him where he’s going to be practicing,” said Hass. “There was a movie here in Iowa and it said ‘if you build it, they will come.’ That’s what we’re counting on here.”
