KIRKSVILLE, MO --
Kirksville's alternate route 63 project has at least one resident in an uproar.
The project permanently closed off North Lincoln Street, leaving a mess at what is now a dead end.
Kathy Williams, who lives at the end of the street, says she's talked to the city and MoDOT, but nothing's been done to make the dead end a safer place to turn around.
“My big concern is this winter and there's the snow plow has no where to turn around if we can get one out here, because I was told we're not going to be treated like we were in an alley, well I feel like I live in an alley. The road is a total disaster from here to Benton Way, and it's going to be a disaster,” said Williams.
Williams says no one contacted them about Lincoln Street being closed on the north end. Residents now have to drive all the way down to Benton Way to get into town.
Williams is so unhappy about the situation, she's put her house up for sale. She says she never would have built it two years ago if she knew the future of Lincoln Street.
