KIRKSVILLE, MO -- There's a new face heading up the Kirksville Downtown Improvement Committee.

Nate Walker was recently named Executive Director.

Walker's goal for the organization is to get more people downtown.

He says major improvements have paved the way for even more development in the future.

“There's several apartments that have been built lately and so we're getting more and more people living downtown and then there's more and more stores that are opening up and restaurants and eateries and coffee shops so it's a good place for professionals to even have their offices,” said Walker.

Walker says his office is always open to people with ideas about downtown improvement.

KDIC is part of the dream initiative, or Downtown Revitalization and Economic Assistance for Missouri.

Walker says sprucing up the appearance will encourage more people to visit and do business downtown.
