DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- Mediacom cable television subscribers in Iowa will see their bills jump by $2 to $3 starting in December.
Mediacom spokeswoman Phyllis Peters says the increase is due to the higher prices that the company must pay to obtain its channels.
Peters says Mediacom, the nation's eighth-largest cable company, will pay "tens of millions of dollars" more for programming in 2011 than it did this year.
The Des Moines Register reports that the New York-based Mediacom has reported a $4 million loss for the quarter ending September 30.
