KIRKSVILLE, MO --

Members of the Kirksville Downtown Improvement Committee met for their annual meeting Tuesday evening.

Membership to KDIC is currently free of charge.

Downtown merchants and other members voted on changes to the bylaws and the board. The board will go from 15 members to 11.

The main goal of KDIC is to get more people downtown.

“The newest thing, the upcoming event is the downtown Christmas event that we always have. We always have Santa come downtown to the courthouse where we have Santa's house and we're looking at possibly doing some more types of events around Christmastime to bring Santa into town,” said Board President Kylene Puckett.

Truman State University Professor Cole Woodcox gave a presentation on how historic preservation can help downtown businesses.
