KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- Little girls, ages five - 12 will be given the opportunity to be princesses Sunday, Nov. 7.
A Princess Party will take place from two - four p.m. at the Ruth W. Towne Museum and Visitors Center, on the Truman State University Campus (Northeast corner of Franklin and Normal Streets).
"It's an opportunity for young girls who are interested in the Miss Missouri Organization to get to meet local titleholders and spend the afternoon with them, being pampered and treated like a princess," said Angela Caraway, Director of Miss Northeast Counties.
The event will cost $25 per child, and is a fundraiser for the Miss Northeast County's Scholarship Program. Miss Northeast County is a local preliminary in the Miss Missouri and Miss America Organization.
"What they've got planned [are] some opportunities to do sing-alongs, to do some nail painting, and arts and crafts," said Caraway. "They're going to make a runway for the girls to learn how to walk down a runway and Miss Northeast County's Outstanding Teen is going to teach them a short dance and just get them involved in all the activities."
The age-group for the party, five - 12-years old, can be involved in the Little Sister Program, which involves a January pageant.
"Miss America is one of the largest scholarship donors to young ladies across America, giving more than $44-million worth of scholarships," said Caraway. "We have had an opportunity to give about $1,500 in cash scholarships this past year."
