KIRKSVILLE, MO -- With fall in full swing winter is lurking around the corner.  This time of year many people suffer from the cold weather blues, also known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).  Experts say nearly everyone suffers some symptoms of the disease.  There is something people can do though to stay active.

“One of the main things is getting into a routine and staying with it” said Adair County YMCA Membership/Wellness Director Diane Corder.  “The earlier you work out in the day, the better you’ll feel throughout the day”

One of the most important things you can do is not to isolate yourself from people and activities.  You should socialize as well as exercise and eat healthy.

“Having a buddy system and having someone you’re accountable to really helps” said Corder.  “If you feel like sleeping in one morning but you know someone’s waiting on you at the Y, you’ll roll out of bed and come on in so it’s an accountability thing.”
