KIRKSVILLE, MO --  

Area foster children will have a few things to call their own thanks to a new store in Kirksville.
    
All of the proceeds from a resale shop on South Franklin Street will benefit the foster families of Adair County.
    
Foster parents get a stipend from the state, but in many cases it's not enough to cover everything the child needs, let alone extras.
    
Some children come to foster care with only the clothes on their back.

“Hopefully we can have some events for them to go to, we'd like to see them have y memberships, those are expensive. We'd like to see some of them have swimming lessons and music lessons, just what you'd want for your own child, that's what we want for these children,” said Sheila Jones, Foster Families of Adair County President.
    
The store is hoping to have a prom dress drive so the foster children can attend the dance and feel beautiful.
    
Foster parents would also like to see the kids play school sports, which can be costly.
    
The resale shop is run by volunteers.

Jones says they are always looking for more donations and customers.
