Southeast Iowa bank robbed at knifepoint

PACKWOOD, IOWA -- Pilot Grove Savings Bank, 125 N Main St., Packwood, Iowa, was robbed at knifepoint, Friday, Oct. 29, around 10 a.m.

Jefferson County Law Enforcement, as well as law enforcement from several surrounding counties immediately responded to the call, and set up a perimeter to catch the man.

Thanks to a citizen’s tip, 20-year-old Anthony Michael Koehlhoeffer, of Fairfield, Iowa, was arrested north of Batavia, Iowa, around 12:20 p.m.

Koehlhoeffer was charged with first degree robbery, two counts of assault on a police officer, one count of assault on a police officer causing bodily injury, 2nd degree criminal mischief, and interference with official acts causing bodily injury.

First degree robbery is punishable by up to 25 years.

Koehlhoeffer, who was wearing a ski-mask, was wielding a knife and an undisclosed amount of money.

The Pekin Community School District went on a lockdown for a short period of time while the suspect was on the loose.

Assisting with the investigation were the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office,  Fairfield Police Department, The Fairfield Police Department Dispatchers, The Jefferson County Police Reserve Unit, The Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office, The Wapello County Sheriff’s Office, The Iowa State Patrol, The Iowa State Patrol Air Wing, The Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office.
