Paramedic sentenced for stealing narcotics

MACON, MO. -- A former paramedic with the Macon County Ambulance District, who admitted to stealing drugs while employed there, has avoided prison time.

Craig Halliburton, 41, of Moberly, pleaded guilty to one count of burglary and one count of stealing a controlled substance.

He was sentenced to five years in prison on each count with those sentences suspended.

The suspect was placed on five years supervised probation.

Halliburton admitted to stealing morphine, Demerol and Valium.

At the time of his arrest, Halliburton told Macon police he had been addicted to pain killers for nearly two years.
