KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Northeast Missouri Job Fair connected employers with future employees on Tuesday.

The Missouri Career Center and Kirksville Area Chamber Of Commerce brought in nearly 40 employers from a wide variety of companies.

This afternoon job searches could fill out an application and even schedule an interview.

Many people looked for the perfect career at the job fair, others just wanted to find a way to make a living.

"My dream job is to go to work 8-5 Monday through Friday.  When I walk out the door at 5:00, to leave work at work and have a life,” said Cathy Humphrey of Kirksville.

One employer with many open positions was the Job Corps. The Job Corps places college and high-school age people in service positions, complete with training and free room-and-board.

"All of our programs are hands-on training programs, so we're looking for students that are patient, that are able to do things well with their hands.  We have lots of construction trades, we have lots of trades in the health industry, so we need people that are patient, that can work with residents in the hospital setting.  We also have lots of jobs in the technology trades, so we're looking for people that have interests in computers, and computer repair,” said Kristina Juarez, a recruiter for the Job Corps.

If you missed the job fair there are other ways to find a job, said Cathy Collop of the Missouri Career Center.

"You can register online at MissouriCareerSource.com and employees put job orders on that site as well so that the system matches you up if you have qualifications employers are looking for, and we also have workshops at the career center on interviews, resume writing, career networking, career success...We have a veteran's representative on staff, so any of our veterans-we have some programs for them that they would be interested in learning more information about,” said Collup.

Collup said there would be another job fair in April.
