KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Prayer and the community was the focus Thursday morning at Truman’s Student Union. The Kirksville Interchurch Ministries held the annual Community Prayer Breakfast. Folks who attended got the opportunity to socialize and dine on several breakfast selections. Fran Norman, the president of Kirksville’s Interchurch Ministries said this event has been going on since the 70’s and takes a lot of planning each year.
She says even after years of participation, she’s still very excited to see everyone come together.
“It means a lot to me. To see…with all the problems other people have right now, for one hour everyone is doing well.”
Norman told KTVO that she was very pleased with the outcome of Thursday’s breakfast.
“It’s wonderful to see so many representatives from all the different churches and to have just a gathering. And it’s very important to have a community prayer breakfast and we are always represented by some of the council (members) and many of the leaders of the leaders of our community are here too.”
Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sandra Williams was the guest speaker for today’s breakfast. She shared several personal accounts of how God has worked in her life.
You’re invited to attend the next Kirksville Interchurch Ministries event on November 23rd. The Community Thanksgiving Prayer Service will be held at the Kirksville Nazarene Church starting at 7 p.m. The group will be collecting free-will offerings to donate to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Campaign.
