COLUMBIA, MO. (AP) -- A Missouri man charged with murder in the kidnapping and killing of a drifter is scheduled for a plea hearing Tuesday.
Chad M. Harvey is among several people, including his father, charged in the December 2009 death of James William Boyd McNeely in Laddonia.
The Hannibal Courier-Post reports that the 19-year-old Harvey's hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in Columbia. A trial is set for Nov. 16.
Authorities allege McNeely was suffocated in the basement of the Harveys' home in Laddonia. Prosecutors say his body was found Dec. 22 inside a refrigerated tractor-trailer leased to Chester Harvey. The elder Harvey has previously said McNeely's death was self-defense after McNeely attacked Harvey's wife and three of his five sons.
