KIRKSVILLE, MO -- How about a trip through the history of Adair County. On Saturday, October 8th you have the opportunity to join the Adair County Historical Society for their first-ever Navigation Rally. This is much like a scavenger or treasure hunt. You’ll be given instructions to find a historic site in the county and clues to direct you along the course to other sites.
Charles Frost with the historical society says this is a way to get the whole community involved with local history.
“The idea was to make getting aquatinted with our local historical sites easy and fun, especially for the younger people. That will help them to forge links to the community and be part of its on-going history,” explained Frost.
Frost brought this idea from abroad.
“I first experienced it when I was posted to Australia and the host government organization put on one and I was really impressed with it,” said Frost.
It should be a day full of adventure.
“The first cars will be dispatched at 2:00. It’ll take about an hour and a half to reach the destination. For those who have not yet signed up come at 1:30 to the museum at 211 South Elson Street and we’ll get you signed up and on your way,” Frost said.
