KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A northeast Missouri man could be headed to prison after pleading guilty to one count of second-degree assault.

Trevin Barnes, 19, of Kirksville entered the plea Monday in Adair County Circuit Court.

The charge was in connection with an assault of another Kirksville man in July.

Adair County Prosecutor Matt Wilson is asking for a seven-year sentence in the case.

Barnes is set to be sentenced November 1.

Another man charged in that same assault pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Adair County Circuit Court.

Cortez Robinson, 25, is charged with second-degree assault in connection with the July crime.

Robinson's next court date is November 2.
