KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- The 36th Annual Red Barn Arts and Crafts Festival began at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning with 119 vendors.

People from over five states made the trip to Kirksville to partake in the festivities.

Art work is judged on a variety of categories including originality and creativity. At the end of the festival $1,000 in awards were given to the winners.

Susan Dublin, the Chairwoman for the Red Barn Arts and Crafts Festival, said that the event is a year in the making...

A lot of work. There are 14 [people] on our committee that work for about a year to put this event together. And we meet quite often, especially when it comes down close to the time that we're getting to the event," Dublin said.

Among those present at the Red Barn Arts and Crafts Festival was KTVO's John Garlock.
