KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Charges have been filed in connection with three church break-ins in Adair County. Adair County Prosecutor Matt Wilson said David Scott, 24, of Lancaster, is facing four counts of burglary as well as three counts of stealing.
“Three churches have had break-ins over the past couple months so we alleged that David was involved in that” said Wilson. “Through some investigations we have pretty firm belief of his involvement due to summons he’s made and other individuals have made.”
Wilson said they are also seeking David’s wife, Jamie Scott, 25, from Lancaster, and Ashley Hudson, 18, of Memphis, in connection with the church break-ins.
According to court documents, the three broke into Trinity Episcopal Church and First Christian Church on August 1, 2010, and the Church of the Nazarene on July 9, 2010. Items stolen include a digital camera, a video camera, $300 in cash and other numerous items.
The trio also has connections with church break-ins in Davis County in Iowa and other churches around the region.
