KIRKSVILLE, MO --
If you'd like to learn more about food grown right in your community, you don't want to miss the NEMO food fest coming up this weekend.
The 10th Annual Food Fest is September 18 on the Kirksville square, along side the farmer's market.
“Food Fest is all about showcasing locally grown foods. This is anything from locally produced vegetables and fruits to local meats, milk products, baked goods, anything that's produced locally. We want to expose the public to what is available locally, where they can get it and how to prepare it,” said Jennifer Schutter, Horticulture Specialist.
You can watch cooking demonstrations by local producers and they'll be plenty of activities for the kids.
The farmer's market runs from 7 a.m. to noon.
Food Fest will start at 9 a.m. and wrap up at noon.
It's hosted by the University of Missouri Extension.
