4 injured in school bus crash

LANCASTER, MO. -- Four people were hospitalized after a crash involving a school bus Friday afternoon on Highway 63.

Emergency crews responded to the wreck in Lancaster, Mo., around 3:30 p.m. Friday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Charles Newland of Kirksville hit the Schuyler County school bus from behind as the bus was attempting to make a right turn. Newland was taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Three of the students on the bus were also injured.

Chance White, 10, 13-year-old Mary Thompson and 15-year-old Brittany Thompson were all taken to Northeast Regional for treatment. All three are from Lancaster, Mo.

White had minor injuries. Both Mary and Brittany Thompson suffered moderate injuries.
