JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI -- Press Release from Gov. Jay Nixon's office

Gov. Jay Nixon Wednesday appointed Gary D. Redmon, of Brookfield, as presiding commissioner for Linn County. The position became vacant after former Presiding Commissioner Rick Solomon resigned from the position.

Redmon, a Democrat, is a farmer and implement broker. He is the former owner of Redmon Equipment Inc. in Brookfield, and the former manager of Cook Sales and Service in Chillicothe. Redmon earned his bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry and his master’s degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri.

“With his background in agriculture, Gary Redmon is well-known to the residents of this area,” Gov. Nixon said. “I am confident he will serve the people of Linn County well as their presiding commissioner.”

The position of presiding commissioner will be on the ballot in Linn County during the November general election.
