KIRKSVILLE, MO --

Community members are planning a tribute to Sgt. Brandon Maggart, a Kirksville native killed in the line of duty in Iraq on August 22.

The public is invited to line the road from the south end of town all the way to the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery Wednesday after Maggart's funeral.

250 flags were donated by Four Horizons Realty for onlookers to hold as the funeral procession goes by.

“We just want the family to know how much we appreciate what Sgt. Maggart has done for our country and our community. We all take for granted the rights we have and privileges we have due to our military and the sacrifices they make,” said Co-Organizer Larry Logston.

Flags will be distributed starting at 6 p.m. at U.S. cellular on South Baltimore Street until they run out.

You're encouraged to take your own flags as well and line the highway anywhere between Kirksville and Jacksonville Wednesday between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
