SHELBYVILLE, MO. -- A Missouri state trooper facing felony charges is now a free man.
The Missouri Attorney General's Office, acting as special prosecutor in the case against Dustin Berry, 26, of Leonard, dismissed charges Monday in a Shelby County courtroom.
Berry had been charged with two counts of forgery and one count of possession or sale of equipment with altered identification.
Berry had been scheduled for a preliminary hearing Monday.
Nanci Gonder, press secretary for Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster, issued the following statement to KTVO via e-mail: "We dismissed the charges because we did not have sufficient evidence to prove the case. We do have the option to refile in the future should sufficient evidence become available."
Berry had been placed on unpaid administrative leave by the patrol.
