BLOOMFIELD, IOWA -- The second annual Back to Basics Road Race lets participants have fun while they get in some exercise.

The event includes a 5K run, a 5 mile run, as well as a youth run.

Proceeds from the event go to the Bloomfield City Parks Project.

Last year about 200 runners raised $1,000 to give to city parks. This year the event has sponsors and they hope to raise more money.

Keeping things in the community is what this is all about.

“We had so many people from Bloomfield going away for road races so we thought what a better way to have this in our community and bring people to our community and really get people out and realize how fun an event like this can be,” said event organizer Katie Fetcho.

The Race is September 18th, butby registering before September, 1 you can save $10.

The Race begins and ends on the Bloomfield Square.
