KIRKSVILLE, MO --

You wanted to know the status of the Alternate Route 63 Project, so our Fact Finder Team contacted the Missouri Department of Transportation for an update.

“Right now we're concentrating our efforts on the area of Route P. We've had that closed for quite some time. We're over what we thought we would have that closed for, so that's what we're concentrating our efforts on right now. We have been working throughout the whole project all the way from Route 6 to almost the north end,” said Jeff Gander, MoDOT Resident Engineer.

Route P should be reopened to traffic in early September. Gander tells Fact Finder rainy weather was to blame for the delay.

The next closure on the docket is Route 11, followed by Route 6.  Construction on Route 11 should get underway this year.

The work on Route 6 may start this year, depending on the weather.
