KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A new of class of medical students received a 'Taste of Kirksville' Wednesday afternoon.
The 11th annual event allows Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine students to taste a variety of food from local restaurants. Nearly 20 local restaurants and caterers participated this year. Vendors offered a sample of their food to any hungry student in attendance.
“This is a great thing to do. Not only are you going to get a lot of hungry medical students that at all hours of the day are going to want something to eat, so it's a great opportunity to say 'hey look how good my food is' and sometimes you drive home from school and you don't see everything,” said 2nd Vice President of Student Government Association.
In addition to the Taste of Kirksville event, a student organization fair was also held. Students were introduced to campus clubs, professional organizations, and leadership opportunities.
“It gives the first year students a lot of opportunities to talk to second year students that they may not have the opportunity and maybe start thinking about what they might be interested in. And there are clubs for everything, I mean we have 40 organization tables and that's the most we've ever had,” said 2nd Vice President of Student Government Association.
Organizers say this is a great way for the community to show their support for the students and it’s great exposure for the businesses as well.
