Pastor Tim was assigned to Penn Avenue Free Methodist Church in Ottumwa
OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The Penn Avenue Free Methodist Church welcomed a new pastor this month.
Pastor Tim Ward received his appointment this summer and began serving the church August 1.
Pastor Tim has been a minister for 20 years.
He stresses the importance of building relationships with him members and says he wants to be a pastor who will sit and have coffee with somebody as opposed to sitting behind a desk all day.
“We don’t want to compete with the other congregations in town. We are here to welcome people into the Kingdom of God whether they be here or someplace else. Our main purpose is really to let people know that Jesus cares.”
Pastor Tim hopes to generate some more interest and develop new programs. One project he is working on is developing a “Blessing of the Hunt” for hunters and outdoorsmen to enjoy. That will likely be held in October. Pastor Tim said he enjoys the outdoors and hunting and fishing.
Because he is still so new, Pastor Tim is currently staying at a camp in Birmingham while he and his wife Nancy search for a residence in or near Ottumwa.
They are from Peoria, Illinois.
