MACON, MO. -- Next week you’ll have the chance to enjoy food, fun and even a run in the City of Maples. The third annual Macon Fork and Cork Festival is scheduled for Saturday beginning at 8:00 a.m. with a 5k run and 2 mile walk at Long Branch Sate Park.
Runners will receive a t-shirt with their registration fee and the top three finishers in each age group will receive medals. The top male and female runners will also win a trophy.
All proceeds from the race will benefit the Macon Mainstreet Downtown Association.
After the race, festivities will continue downtown with an art festival, farmer’s market, bakery and shop the block among other events.
“They have music all day long. And it’s local, some local, some not. So I think there’s something there for everybody, there’s always something for the kids. It’s just a fund day to come hangout and eat and drink and have fun,” said race coordinator Connie Kuhman.
Wine and beer gardens will open at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the festival closes at 8:00 p.m.
