JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (AP) -- Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster is no longer seeking to intervene in a lawsuit over the federal health care overhaul.
Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder said in a statement that Koster's motion to intervene in the case was withdrawn Friday. The development came after Kinder filed an amended complaint making it clear he was not trying to sue on behalf of the state.
At issue is a lawsuit Kinder filed last month in federal court challenging the federal health care law. Kinder, a Republican, is
raising private funds to pay for the lawsuit.
Kinder is the state's official advocate for seniors, and the lawsuit contends that part of the federal health care overhaul will
harm the state's seniors. A spokesman for Kinder said Koster has allowed the lieutenant governor to continue the lawsuit in his official and personal capacities.
