KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A Kirksville man will now face a more serious charge in connection with an assault on another Kirksville man.
Cortez Robinson, 25, was originally charged with Second Degree Assault, a class "C" felony, that charge has now been amended to an "A" felony charge of first degree assault.
Adair County Prosecutor Matt Wilson told KTVO he was able to amend the charge after receiving additional information from Kirksville Police. Robinson’s bond has also been amended; it was increased from $25,000 cash only to $100,000 cash only.
Trevin Barnes, 29, of Kirksville, is already charged with First Degree Assault in connection with the same incident. The two men are alleged to have attack the victim with a brick, striking him in the head, causing serious injury.
Both men are scheduled for preliminary hearings on August 30th in Adair County Associate Circuit Court.
