COLFAX, IOWA (AP) -- Interstate 80 in Jasper County has reopened after a crash that's left five people dead and a sixth injured.

The Iowa Department of Transportation said traffic began moving again about 4 p.m. Saturday. The crash happened about 11:30 a.m. Saturday near Colfax.

The Iowa State Patrol says a van traveling westbound on I-80 crossed the median and hit an eastbound vehicle head-on.

Five people were declared dead at the scene. A sixth person was airlifted to a Des Moines hospital in critical condition.

Authorities have not yet released the names of anyone involved.
