KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A Kirksville employer is attempting to sell property they moved into just over one year ago. Wi-Fi Sensors would like to sell the property formerly owned by Hollister on South Baltimore.
Sources tell KTVO Wi-Fi is currently not operating out of the South Baltimore location.
The property itself is now listed as for sale with a commercial real estate broker based in Jefferson City. At one point some 25 people had been employed at the company. KTVO had learned of layoffs at Wi-Fi a few months ago, layoffs the company called "temporary".
Wi-Fi was welcomed to Kirksville during a visit by Governor Jay Nixon back in July of last year. At that time Nixon announced the company was receiving a one million dollar loan from the state of Missouri based on the creation of 40 jobs, with a promise of 100 jobs within 18 months.
We attempted to contact Wi-Fi officials, but a phone call to the Kirksville facility found the phone was disconnected. When we attempted to contact K-REDI Director of Job Creation Phil Tate we were told he was on vacation.
