Two stabbed at Ottumwa motel

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Ottumwa Police are investigating a double stabbing early Sunday morning at Heartland motel.

Two men were hospitalized for stab wounds after a fight broke out around 12:20 a.m.

Police responded to reports of a disturbance at the Stardust Motel in Ottumwa.

Upon arrival, they found Christian Deeter and Alexander Collins, both 21 and of Ottumwa, suffering from stab wounds.

Both men were taken to Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Deeter received 25 stitches for a stab wound on his face and was released.

Collins was transferred to the University of Iowa Hospital were he is being treated for multiple stab wounds to his back, arms and chest.

Authorities arrested Darryl Louis Johnson of Ottumwa for the stabbings.

Johnson has been charged with one count of Attempt to Commit Murder and one charge of Willful Injury.

He is currently being held on $60,000 bond in the Wapello County Jail.

Police say they will continue to investigate the situation.
