KIRKSVILLE, MO --

Participants in the YES program are sprucing up Kirksville.

Friday we caught the group cleaning up Rotary Park, followed by a barbeque and then over to the pool for a swim.

33 members are enrolled in the youth summer program, which gives them a chance to learn about a variety of topics.

“Every week had different theme. This week is wilderness week so we're trying to teach them about the environment, keeping parks clean obviously, and we're just really trying to teach them anything that we can,” said Staff Member Ryan Cochran.

Participants tell KTVO they enjoyed touring different sites around Kirksville.

“The fire station and EMT and Truman's farm. Which one of those did you like the best? Truman. Why? Because it's got horses. I like horses,” said Dylan Howe.

If you're interested in learning more about the program or want to get involved, contact the Kirksville Regional Office at 660-785-2500.
