DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- A flash flood warning has been issued for Woodbury County in northwest Iowa as powerful storms move through the area.

The National Weather Service issued the warning early Monday morning. Flood warnings and advisories also remain in effect through Monday morning for several counties in central and eastern Iowa.

Thousands of utility customers across Iowa and western Illinois were left without power Sunday in the wake of a powerful band of storms.

MidAmerican Energy says about 7,300 customers were in the dark Sunday afternoon in its service area. About 1,000 Ames Electric Services customers were still without electricity.

A MidAmerican Energy spokesman says all power could be restored by Monday.
