DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- An aide to Democratic U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell says former President Bill Clinton will appear at a private fundraising reception on behalf of the 3rd District Democrat.

The aide, who spoke Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the event hasn't been formally announced, says the event will be held July 25 at a private residence in the Des Moines area.

No public events are planned.

Boswell has been in Congress since 1997. He faces Republican Brad Zaun in the November election.

Republican National Committee officials issued a statement claiming that Clinton's visit shows Democrats are worried about Boswell's re-election campaign.
