Area traffic flagman hit by truck

NEAR TRENTON, MO. -- A southeast Iowa man is hospitalized after he was struck by a vehicle at a road construction site in north central Missouri Wednesday morning.

Daniel Garrett, 22, of Eldon, Iowa was the flagman at the construction site on Highway 65 about three miles north of Trenton, Missouri when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle driven by Bob Porter, 84, of Mercer, Missouri.

Garrett was taken to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton and then life flighted to Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Hospital officials in Kansas City told KTVO Wednesday night that Garrett is listed in serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
