LANCASTER, MO. -- Folks wanting to vote in Missouri’s primary election only have one more day to get registered. The primary will be held on August 3rd, but the last day to become a register voter is Wednesday, July 7th.
We spoke to Schuyler County Clerk Bree Shaw to find out how the registration process works.
“They fill out a registration form and show I.D. so we know that’s who they are then we put it into the computer, send it over to know everything is correct, if not they let us know,” said Shaw.
Shaw told us that there’s one very important reason you should consider registration.
“I think it’s very important so they can have a voice in what they believe in. If they don’t get out and vote, they can’t complain about what’s going on at the local, state, or even at the higher government,” she explained.
There are several heated state-wide races and one race that’s getting a lot of attention in Schuyler County. The battle for the Associate Circuit Judge is getting a lot of interest.
“Right now, this election is kind of hot. We have three democrats running, so right now that’s the big talk in Schuyler,” said Shaw.
You can register to vote in person at your local county clerk’s office or Department of Social Services. You can also print out a form on-line and mail it in post marked by Wednesday.
