MACON, MO. -- The Maples Repertory Theatre is celebrating lucky number seven.
The seventh season is underway at the Rep Theatre and Wednesday was packed full of events to celebrate the anniversary.
The "To Half or Half Not" exhibit displays miniature costumes through the ages.
The half scale costumes are displayed at the State Exchange Gallery on Vine Street in downtown Macon. That can be viewed Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Fridays 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., and Sundays from noon – 5:00 p.m.
“We as a human species have a fascination with things in miniature and we also have a fascination with clothing. I've done this half scale exhibit, I've also done antique clothing exhibits and we love to see what other people wore and considered fashionable,” said Costume Designer Jack Smith.
The day began with a showing of Goldilocks in the morning. The classic musical Oklahoma! was the matinee show and a comedy titled Rounding Third was the final show at 7:30 p.m.
The celebration also included dinner at the Pear Tree restaurant in Bevier.
“Macon's just a magical little town and the theatre here is amazing and I’m relatively certain that most people don’t know how lucky they are to have this theatre in their community because it’s really a quality theatre in a small town and that’s a lovely thing,” said Smith.
